ADBC Drivers Agent Skill

arpe.io publishes official agent skills in the arpe-io/arpeio-skills GitHub repository. The arpeio-adbc-drivers skill teaches your AI agent how to install, configure and troubleshoot the arpe.io ADBC drivers (ArpeMSSQL, ArpePGSQL, ArpeOracle, ArpeNetezza, ArpeTeradata): the installer, the licence, connection URIs, authentication, TLS, Arrow type mappings and bulk ingest, from Python, C, C#, Go, Java, R or Rust.

The same repository also has skills for FastBCP, FastTransfer, MigratorXpress and LakeXpress.

Skill or MCP server?

The skill is a set of instructions: it teaches the agent how the drivers work, and the agent writes the code. The arpe.io MCP server gives the agent tools that look up driver facts (load names, URIs, install commands, release notes) and search this documentation. The two work well together, so install both if your agent supports them.

Claude Code

Install the skill as a plugin from the arpe.io marketplace:

/plugin install arpeio-adbc-drivers --marketplace arpe-io/arpeio-skills

Or in two steps:

/plugin marketplace add arpe-io/arpeio-skills
/plugin install arpeio-adbc-drivers@arpe-io

Then just ask, for example: "Read the SQL Server table dbo.Orders into a pandas DataFrame with ArpeMSSQL".

To get the latest version of the skill later:

/plugin marketplace update arpe-io
/plugin update arpeio-adbc-drivers@arpe-io

Other agents (Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI…)

Copy the skill folder into the directory your agent reads skills from:

git clone https://github.com/arpe-io/arpeio-skills.git
cp -r arpeio-skills/plugins/arpeio-adbc-drivers/skills/arpeio-adbc-drivers <your-agent-skills-dir>/

For agents without skill support, paste the content of SKILL.md as custom instructions. The files in its references/ folder can be attached or pasted when needed.

Product version

The skill states the driver versions its facts were checked against. Before writing code, it asks the agent to list the installed drivers and their versions (the installer's --installed option) and to confirm against this documentation when an installed driver is newer.

Reporting issues

If the agent gets something wrong, open an issue at github.com/arpe-io/arpeio-skills/issues with the driver and its version, the prompt you gave, and the code or connection string the agent produced (with passwords and licence text removed).
